Shoreham Festival

Temenos chamber choir started life in 1988,
when Susan Hinks (Susan Haire) formed the Sunday Singers, a group of ten singers, in the village of
Shoreham, near Sevenoaks in Kent.

The first concert, of madrigals and motets, was held
in the garden of The Old Vicarage, home of Susan
and Frank Hinks. From then on, with concerts in
Shoreham Church and further afield, the choir has
explored much beautiful early sacred music, and also
that of the 20th century, such as Duruflé and Pärt.

The choir has been fortunate to work with many local
talented musicians over the years, and conductors
have included Andrew Reid, Danny Kingshill,
Lionel Steuart Fothringham, Tony Gould, Robin
Mace, Nils Schweckendiek, Charles Talbot and
Peter Westley.

The choir has five rehearsals before each concert,
meeting on Wednesday evenings in Sevenoaks or
Shoreham, giving the final June concert as part of
the Shoreham Festival of Music.

The choir welcomes new members who would enjoy
singing this repertoire in a small group. Singers need
to have good sight-reading skills, and have a voice
which blends. Entry is generally by audition.
